Update From The President
Hello
to all,
Here's some of the things we’ve been up to:
The spring meeting at Heritage Fair proved very
productive for the beekeepers of West Virginia, due
mostly to West Virginia Queen Producers. They had
two major speakers Dr. Larry Connor which taught
classes in queen rearing and Jerry Hayes in the
classroom.
The American Bee Journal and Bee Culture have run
very positive stories about West Virginia queen
producers and the beekeeper of West Virginia. This
puts our state in the forefront of beekeeping.
The West Virginia Department of Agriculture has
helped us being the first in many things, Beekeepers
Assistance program, cost sharing, and medications
for our bees, plus the inspectors and specialist and
don’t forget legislation against liability. Give our
agriculture people a call and thank them. They
deserve a pat on the back.

The West Virginia Department of Agriculture gave us
$1,000 dollars to buy educational materials - We
used this money to purchase a laptop computer and a digital projector so we can
provide power point presentations. If you have any
Microsoft PowerPoint presentations or slides sets
that we may be able to use - please let us know.
Extracting equipment has been purchased for
beekeepers of West Virginia by the department of Ag.
This equipment will have rules in order to check it
out, it must be returned in good condition, place of
pick up is yet to be determined. More information
will follow from the department of Ag. Send a thank
you to the West Virginia department of Ag marketing
and development. They made all of this possible.
Anyone interested in insurance
for your bees or funding from the Department of
