Next Meeting:  The time for our August meeting will soon be here. Our next meeting will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday August 9, 2008 at the St. Albans Public Library, corner of 6th Avenue and 4th Street in Saint Albans, WV.   Steve will give a report on HAS followed by a discussion of what you need to do now to prepare your bees for the winter. As usual there will be an opportunity to ask questions about fall management  Visitors and new members are welcome.

Apiguard:  Have you picked up your Apiguard that WV Department of Agriculture is providing beekeepers? You should have received a letter with instructions to pick it up at your county extension office.

Heartland Apiculture Society Conference:  Eight members of Kanawha Valley Beekeepers  attended the conference at Marshall University in July. I'm sure if each of them had sent you a postcard they would have written, "Having a wonderful time. Wish you were here". Allen Leadmon was one of the instructors and shared his knowledge of making candles. The conference next year will be in Ohio so plan to attend if you can.

West Virginia Beekeepers Association:  Plan to attend the fall meeting of the WVBA on September 19th and 20th at Jackson's Mill at Weston. This two-day meeting will have good speakers and worthwhile programs. It's a great time to meet and greet fellow West Virginia beekeepers. Details and registration form will be in the fall issue of the WVBA newsletter

West Virginia Honey, Wax and Cookery Show:  Are you planning to enter the Honey Show at the fall meeting? Find out how your honey, beeswax and baked goods compare to those of other beekeepers. It's a great feeling to have a blue ribbon on your entry. A listing of the various classes you can enter will be in the fall newsletter. Give it a try.

West Virginia Beekeepers T-Shirts The T-shirts you ordered have come in and you can pick yours up at the August meeting.
